At least six people aboard a Russian military helicopter died when it crashed near Groznyy in Chechnya today.
Six others were reported injured in the crash, which occurred
near Russia's main military base in the republic.
An official with the Chechen administration said the crash resulted in eight deaths, with six soldiers found dead at the site of the accident, one dying shortly afterwards and another in hospital.
However, another report quoted Chechnya's interior ministry as saying that the crash did not result in deaths.
