Mary Harney - Denies rift on terminal ownership

The Tánaiste, Mary Harney, has denied that there is a rift between the coalition partners on the ownership of the proposed second terminal at Dublin Airport.

She told the Dáil that the only issues were the provision of extra capacity and competition at the airport.

Earlier, the future ownership of Aer Lingus and the second terminal at Dublin Airport were discussed by Cabinet but decisions were neither sought nor made.

The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, undertook to bring forward proposals on the issues soon after Easter.

While no decisions were made, a spokesperson for Mr Cullen described today's discussion as 'positive'.

The minister was determined to move away from the rescue package culture of the past and towards a positive future for the national airline.
