Draft beach by-laws for Co Clare which would see a complete ban on dogs on certain beaches between 11am and 6pm were approved by the County Council this evening.
They will be put out for public consultation before being finally adopted.
It is proposed that dogs will only be allowed on some beaches before 11am and after 6pm and that dogs must at all times be kept on a leash.
The proposals have met with frustration among dog owners.
