The President, Mary McAleese, has attended the St Patrick’s weekend parade in Tokyo on the last day of her official visit to Japan.
More than 1,000 people took part in the annual parade.
An estimated 10,000 spectators lined the route down one of Tokyo's busiest and most exclusive shopping thoroughfares.
It is the only day of the year when the streets of the fashionable Omotesando district are closed to traffic.
Tomorrow Mrs McAleese travels to the South Korean island of Jeju on the first stop of her State visit to the country.
