A US soldier has been killed and three others wounded in an attack in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.
The US military said a roadside bomb hit a patrol vehicle in the incident.
Earlier, also in northern Iraq, a senior police officer was killed in a bomb explosion in the city of Mosul.
The victim was Brigadier Walid Kashmoula, the head of the police anti-corruption department in the city.
Officials said that he was killed by a bomb placed in the building where he worked.
