The CWU has rejected allegations by the Chief Executive of An Post, Donal Curtin, who said significant amounts of overtime was being paid at the company, but work was not being carried out in return for that payment.
Mr Curtin said this was one of the critical issues facing the company at present.
Sean McDonagh, National Officer CWU, refuted the allegation and said the company had 'failed to substantiate this claim'.
Mr McDonagh said Mr Curtin himself had increased the levels of overtime in the company through his recruitment ban. He claimed the TTP Agreement made a provision to remove overtime but the company 'won't implement it'.
Mr Curtin had claimed that delay in work on the company's delivery and collection project - while both sides at An Post await the outcome of Labour Court talks - would have a significantly negative effect.
He added the company was in an extremely sensitive financial position.
