Icy weather - AA says conditions improving

AA Roadwatch has said that roads in counties Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow have improved but certain areas, particularly back roads, are still icy.

Motorists are still being advised to take care on routes in Co Wicklow. Slush is affecting most roads and traffic is slow.

AA Roadwatch says particular care is needed at the Ballinameesda bends on the N11.

The Sally Gap and Wicklow Gap are impassable due to heavy snow.

This morning, snowy conditions caused delays for buses, cars and other road users.

Gardaí warned motorists to allow extra time for journeys and advised against making unnecessary ones.

Dublin Bus cancelled its 44B route to Glencullen while Iarnród Éireann said there were delays of 45 to 60 minutes on northern route commuter services from Drogheda and Dundalk due to point problems.
