The main 50m competition pool at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin is likely to remain closed for at least another three months.
The €60m centre has been closed since 1 January due to storm damage.
The landlord of the premises, Campus Stadium Ireland Development Ltd, says a quarter of the roof was seriously damaged during the storms on New Year's Day.
Fine Gael TD Jimmy Deenihan has criticised the fact that repair work has not yet started at the centre.
The company that runs the centre, Dublin Waterworld, says it is also extremely frustrated by the delay.
Dublin Waterworld says it stands to lose €500,000 a month because of the closure.
Sixty staff members have been temporarily laid off since 1 January.
Swim Ireland says its members, who include water polo players and divers as well as swimmers, are 'devastated' by the closure.
CSID say the delay is due to bad weather conditions during January which made it difficult for engineers to access the roof.
They say they have now received engineers' reports on the damage and will draw up a schedule of work.
They say the gym and leisure pool will be open again 'in a couple of weeks'.
