About 400 farmers and workers protested outside the Annual General Meeting of Greencore in Dublin this morning.
The protest was over the company’s decision to close its sugar factory in Co Carlow and a malting plant in Banagher, Co Offaly.
The protestors described the closure decisions as greedy and arrogant.
Meanwhile, the broadcaster, Olivia O'Leary, has called for greater investment in Co Carlow.
Launching a promotional campaign for investment, Ms O’Leary said Carlow has all the advantages of the greater Dublin area, without the overcrowding and the high price of living.
Carlow County Manager, Joe Crockett said Carlow was a dynamic and progressive county with dynamic and progressive people. The fundamentals, he said, are right for business success.
