Speculation is mounting that an announcement is due in the next 24 hours about the future of one of Greencore's sugar factories in either Mallow, Co Cork, or Carlow.
The company's Annual Report was sent to shareholders today, intimating that the sugar industry is facing major challenges.
The report also suggested that impending reform was also likely.
A company spokesperson told RTÉ this afternoon that he had no comment to make on suggestions that one of the factories is to close.
