The son of the former South African President, Nelson Mandela, has died of AIDS-related causes.

The 54-year-old died in Johannesburg after spending the last two weeks in hospital.

Makgatho Mandela was the only surviving son of the former president.

Nelson Mandela has said the fight against the illness must be continued.

AIDS affects more than one in five adults in South Africa, with
some 5.3 million people living with HIV and AIDS, according to the UN.
