The pool at the National Aquatic Centre in west Dublin may remain closed for up to two months after extensive damage was caused to the roof by the storm on New Year's Day.
The centre in Blanchardstown was closed on New Year's Day when the storm hit, and nobody was injured.
A portion of the roof over the competition pool was blown off and debris caused damage both inside and outside the building.
The continuing high winds have hampered attempts to fix the problem.
The centre's director, Ciarán Ruttledge, estimates it will cost around €1 million to repair the damage.
While it may take two months to re-open the pool area, Mr Ruttledge said he hopes the separate leisure pool will re-open sooner, and that the gym will open again within weeks.
Mr Ruttledge hopes the centre will re-open fully for its 3,500 members and the general public by the time it is due to celebrate its 2nd birthday in March.
The National Aquatic Centre is owned by the Government and run by Dublin Waterworld Ltd.
