A ten-year-old Palestinian girl was killed in north Gaza today by what neighbours said was an apparent misfiring of a rocket that militants had aimed at Israel.
The girl was outside her house in the northern Gaza refugee camp of Jabalya when she was hit by an errant rocket, local medics said. Witnesses said her brother was also wounded.
Some rockets were fired from north Gaza into Israel today but they caused no casualties or serious damage.
Earlier reports by Jabalya residents said the girl had been hit by an Israeli tank shell but these were denied by an army spokeswoman, who said that there was no military action going on in the region at the time.
