14 killed in violence across Baghdad

Thirteen Iraqis and a Turkish truck driver have been killed in ambushes and explosions in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

A local official was also kidnapped overnight as persistent violence hampered the run-up to next month's elections.

Three US soldiers were also wounded in a bomb attack on their patrol in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The attack comes just days after a suicide bomber killed 22 people at a US base in the city.
