The UN climate change convention has ended in Argentina after negotiators battled into the night to reach a deal on the future of global warming after the Kyoto accord expires in 2012.
For more than 12 days the US and the EU were locked in a disagreement before they reached an eleventh-hour deal to meet informally in Germany next May to decide on the format of future discussions.
The plan sets the format for future talks on curbing greenhouse gas emissions beyond the Kyoto Protocol.
