160 patients now have the winter vomiting bug at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin, while a further 110 staff have contracted the illness and are on sick leave.
A hospital spokesman said today that all elective admissions are being risk assessed, and that up to 30 elective procedures are expected to be cancelled this week.
However, hospital management is advising patients to attend for their appointment unless they have been advised otherwise.
A spokesperson for the Eastern Regional Health Authority said it is monitoring the situation closely.
The authority again appealed to members of the public to curtail visits to St Vincent's.
