Britain's Home Secretary, David Blunkett, has asked for an independent review into claims in the British press that he fast-tracked a visa application for the nanny of his former lover.
Mr Blunkett has denied any wrongdoing. However, opposition leaders have also called for an independent inquiry into the allegations.
The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, said Mr Blunkett has his full support.
Earlier this week, Mr Blunkett claimed he is the father of the child Kimberely Quinn is carrying.
He says he is also the father of her young son. Mrs Quinn denies both claims.
