Experts at a national conference on obesity, which opens tomorrow, have warned that teenage girls in Ireland are now the second fattest in the world.

They also say that boys aged between 13 and 15 are lagging behind only the USA and Greece.

Dr Tim Lobstein of the International Obesity Taskforce says sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy diets mean obesity levels in Ireland have increased by 67% in the past ten years.
