Bord na Móna workers in west Offaly have placed a picket on the gates of the new ESB power station in Shannonbridge.
The West Offaly Power Plant is in its final stages of construction, but Bord na Móna workers in the nearby Blackwater works are in dispute with their employers.
The dispute centres on rates of pay for what the Bord na Móna workers claim are new duties for workers who are involved in the transport of peat to and from the power station.
It is understood Bord Na Móna wants its staff to agree to the same rates and conditions that are presently in place for the Edenderry power station, which opened in 1999.
However, negotiations between the two sides have not been successful and the workers have now decided to place a picket on the power station.
The West Offaly Power Plant has not yet been commissioned for the ESB, but the dispute could delay the final stages of that process.
