The US President, George W Bush, is in Colombia for talks with President Alvaro Uribe that have been dominated by the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.
The two leaders are meeting in the coastal city of Cartagena in the final stop of Mr Bush's three-day tour of Latin America.
The US has given more than €3 billion in military aid to Colombia to help combat cocaine production.
Mr Bush said it was achieving some success.
