Figures show high driving test failure rate

The latest figures from the Department of Environment show that just under half of those who took their driving test last year failed to pass.

There was little difference in the pass rate of drivers taking the test for the first time and those who were repeating.

The figures also show that 95% of cars successfully passed the National Car Test, but nearly 50% had defects fixed following detection on an initial test.
