The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was in Guernsey in the Channel Islands today for the sixth summit of the British-Irish Council.
He was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern, and the Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism, John O'Donoghue.
Tourism was the primary topic for discussion, focusing on areas for co-operation.
Mr Ahern welcomed the ongoing development of the work of the council, and the increasing levels of co-operation, sharing of experiences and best practice across all of the British-Irish Council priority areas.
The Taoiseach also said the Irish and British governments are continuing their work with the Northern Ireland parties to achieve a successful outcome to the peace process as soon as possible.
