In Nigeria, a summit of West African leaders to address renewed fighting in Ivory Coast has given its backing to a proposed UN arms embargo on both sides of the conflict.
The statement was issued after the emergency meeting of six heads of state in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
It said the peace deal signed in Accra in July provided the only credible route to peace.
