There are conflicting reports about the condition of the Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat.
The Palestinian Foreign Minister has told CNN television that the Palestinian leader's condition is stable, and that he is in a reversible coma.
While Palestinian sources were quoted as saying that Mr Arafat was suffering from liver failure, and was not improving.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government has made plans for the Palestinian President to be buried in the Gaza Strip, against the ailing leader's reported wish for a grave in Jerusalem.
A senior Palestinian official reacted to news of the Israeli plans by saying they were inappropriate.
Meanwhile, the two top Palestinian officials, the PLO acting chief, Mahmoud Abbas and the Prime Minister, Ahmed Qurei, are travelling to Mr Arafat's bedside.
It is reported that consideration is being given to moving Mr Arafat from a hospital in Paris to Cairo for treatment, but no decision has been made.
Supporters of the 75-year-old have placed a Palestinian flag on the hospital wall and lit candles around his portraits.
