Several dead as UK train derails

Several people are reported to have died in England after a high-speed train struck a vehicle and was derailed.

The train was travelling from London to Plymouth.

The incident took place just after 6pm this evening at a level crossing between Reading and Newbury in Berkshire.

Hundreds of rescue workers at the scene are working to free the passengers still trapped in the wreckage. The police are treating the derailment as a major incident.

Hospital sources say up to 130 people have been injured.

Eye witnesses have reported at least six mangled carriages with least two carriages on their sides.
