Afghan group extends captives' deadline

The Afghan militant group holding three UN workers hostage  says it has extended its deadline until tomorrow night to allow the Afghan government and the UN to hold talks with them.

A spokesman for the group said they had moved the deadline to tomorrow night because the UN and Afghan government had requested negotiations through a third party.

Last week, three UN electioneers, amongst them Irish woman Annetta Flanigan, were abducted in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
