The Minister for Justice has refused to reconsider paying the legal costs of the McBrearty family at the Morris Tribunal in advance of its findings.

Fine Gael's Jim O'Keeffe urged the Michael McDowell to pay the costs, in the interests of fairness and justice, and to improve the efficiency of the tribunal.

However, Mr McDowell said he did not propose to prejudge the outcome of the tribunal, which had to be given the power to refuse costs to witnesses who did not co-operate with it.
