Seven people have been killed and 16 wounded in a an explosion outside the offices of Al-Arabiya television in Baghdad.
A reporter with the satellite channel said a car bomb had exploded in the car park.
Elsewhere in the capital, eight US marines have been killed and nine wounded in military operations west of Baghdad.
The US military gave no other details on the deaths, which it said occurred in the western province of Anbar, which includes the rebel-held cities of Falluja and Ramadi.
And in further violence, seven Iraqis were killed and 14 wounded during clashes between gunmen and US troops in Haswa.
Police said the fighting broke out when gunmen attacked US troops that were raiding buildings in the village.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Japanese government has said a body found in Iraq is now not thought to be that of a Japanese hostage who had been threatened with execution.
The body was taken to Kuwait to have its identity verified.
The spokesman said medical officers at the Japanese embassy there had concluded that the dead man was not Shoshei Koda.
Mr Koda, 24, has been threatened with beheading by Islamic militants unless Japan withdraws its armed forces from Iraq.
