The US President, George W Bush, and his main challenger Senator John Kerry have stepped up their attacks on each another as the countdown continues to the US presidential election on 2 November.
On the campaign trial in the swing state of Pennsylvania, Mr Kerry blamed Mr Bush for the current shortage of flu vaccines in the US.
There is a shortage of the vaccine in the US because stock bought in from a British company was unusable.
In a message aimed at the country's elderly voters, Mr Kerry has blamed the president for this, citing mismanagement.
He also accused the President of planning to undermine the social security or pension system for the elderly.
Mr Bush has shot back, accusing his opponent of employing scare tactics.
Speaking in Florida, which is another major battleground, Mr Bush told cheering crowds that Mr Kerry will say anything that is politically convenient.
