Ahern & Annan have 'successful' meeting

A two-hour meeting between the Taoiseach and the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has been described as 'successful and useful'.

The meeting was held at in Farmleigh this morning.

A wide number of international issues were discussed, including the latest developments in the Darfur region of Sudan.

The situation in Iraq was discussed. Mr Ahern also briefed Mr Annan on the Northern peace process.
