Nigeria rebels agree to ceasefire

Rebel groups in Nigeria's main oil producing region have agreed to a ceasefire.

Nigeria supplies around ten per cent of the oil imported by the US and the unrest has helped to push the price of a barrel of light crude in New York to a record $50.

A militia leader had been threatening 'all out war' if demands for self-determination for the Ijaw people and a greater share of the country's oil wealth were not met.
