A new report has recommended that the Government places an extra five cent charge on packs of chewing gum.
The expert group study, which examined the cost of cleaning up litter, says that the extra money raised would pay for the cleaning up of chewing gum on streets.
The report also looked at plans for levies on ATM receipts and fast food packaging.
The public will have four weeks to study the report before the Minister for the Environment Martin Cullen brings their views to the Cabinet.
