An Bord Pleanála has granted planning permission to the Royal Dublin Society for a €100 million development at Ballsbridge in Dublin.
The RDS had sought planning permission for a large office development as well as upgrading work on the Anglesea Stand, and the demolition of various structures.
The society had claimed that its future would be in jeopardy if it were not allowed to proceed with the development.
The plans were opposed by a number of residents' groups and the nearby Poor Clare order of nuns, which claimed the development would impact on its privacy and confidentiality.
The development was also opposed by An Taisce.
However, An Bord Pleanála granted permission subject to a number of conditions.
It decided one of the proposed office blocks would have to be omitted from the scheme. Otherwise, it ruled that the development would not seriously injure amenities in the area, or property in the vicinity.
