Volvo Ireland to recall 1,500 cars

Volvo Ireland says 1,500 Irish cars will be recalled over the coming weeks due to a motor problem. The recall effects S60, S70, V70 and V70 cross country models.

It is part of a worldwide recall involving 460,000 cars due to a fault with an electronic fan control inside the radiator, which if overheated could lead to a short circuit and possibly a fire.

Car owners will be informed of the recall by letter.

Around 150,000 Volvo cars will be recalled from the US and 75,000 from Sweden.

Other countries affected include Germany, where 40,000 cars will be recalled and Britain with 35,000 vehicles.

The problem has primarily arisen in areas with warm temperatures and slow driving, for example in rush-hour traffic.
