The employers' body, IBEC, has welcomed the increase in pensions coverage announced today by the Central Statistics Office.
IBEC says the 1.2% increase is significant given the difficulties in pensions funding which many employers are facing at present.
Today's figures show that more than 59% of employees aged over 30 are now in occupational pension schemes.
