Sinn Féin has said it has uncovered a sophisticated bugging device at the home of a party member in west Belfast.
The device was discovered at the home of a member of staff of Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams.
It was found in the roofspace of the house in Andersonstown in West Belfast, and had been concealed in the wooden rafters with a miniature microphone built in to the living room ceiling, according to Sinn Féin.
The woman who lives in the house is a part-time voluntary worker who works a few days a week in Mr Adams's constituency office in the city.
The party said that the device represents 'the work of a British state agency and is part of a spying and intelligence gathering operation'.
It added that Mr Adams would raise the matter in London today during a meeting with British officials.
Local Sinn Féin Councillor Michael Ferguson said that the discovery of the device was ridiculous and shameful.
