It has been one of the worst weekends ever for road deaths in Ireland.
Three people were killed this morning when they were involved in a two-car head on collision near Templemore in Tipperary.
Two men from Belarus were killed, along with a women from Roscrea. The victims have not yet been named.
Last night in Co Wexford, two Enniscorthy residents, 35-year-old Noel Quigly and 59-year-old Ita Roche, were killed when their vehicles collided near the town.
In Cork city 22-year-old Frenchman Julien Trichet was killed when his motorbike hit a tree.
Elsewhere, James Mangan, 64, from Stradbally in Laois died after his car collided with a coach near Stradbally.
Nigel Mc Sharry, 23, from Sligo was killed near Boyle in Roscommon when his car hit a fence this morning.
And this afternoon, two male cyclists were killed, one after a collision with a truck near Askeaton in Limerick, another after a collision with a car at Middleton in Cork.
These ten deaths bring to 272 the number of people killed on the roads so far this year, nearly 40 more than in the same period last year.
Tonight the Transport Minister Seamus Brennan said he was examining the possibility of deploying more gardaí on road traffic duty at weekends.
