The Labour Party leader, Pat Rabbitte, has said he aims to position his party as the driving force in the next government.
Addressing a meeting of Labour councillors in Dublin, Mr Rabbitte said the current Government was devoid of vision.
Today's meeting follows the best local election results the party has ever secured.
