Body of murdered Irish engineer flown home

The body of the Galway-born engineer, Tony Higgins, who was shot dead in Saudi Arabia earlier this month, has been flown home for burial.

Hundreds gathered for the removal of his remains in Galway this evening.

Mr Higgins, 59, was fatally wounded by armed men who burst into his office in a suburb of the capital, Riyadh.

He had been working with a Saudi construction firm for the past 27 years. Investigations into his murder are still continuing in Saudi Arabia.

Mr Higgins is survived by his wife Joan and two daughters.
