European Commission President-designate Jose Manuel Barroso has praised the 'excellent spirit' of his incoming EU executive team.
The 25 nominee commissioners held their first informal talks in Brussels today.
Dr Barroso said the incoming commissioners, including a number of former prime ministers and ministers from national governments, will meet again on 17 September.
European Parliament hearings on approval of the commission are due to start on 27 September.
At today's meeting the commissioners agreed a revised code of conduct setting out the rules by which they must abide over the next five years.
