Talks on Brinks security measures fail

Padraig Yates of SIPTU says talks between the trade union and the Brinks Allied company on new security vehicles and procedures broke down shortly before 8pm tonight.

SIPTU believes that the new vehicles and procedures being introduced to counteract an increase in robberies pose a threat to the health and safety of the workers.

The union says an offer to have the matter referred to the Labour Relations Commission was turned down by the company.

It says it is not in dispute and is willing and available to work under the old procedures.
