The UN Security Council is to vote tomorrow on a draft resolution presented by the United States on what action should be taken to ease the worsening crisis in Darfur in Sudan.
US officials say they had agreed to drop the word 'sanctions' from the resolution after seven countries in the 15-member council objected to the term.
Earlier, the US Ambassador to the UN, John Danforth, said that hundreds of people are dying every day in Sudan because of the Sudanese government's failure to act against militias.
