The Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan, has welcomed the completion of the first phase of a €176 million upgrade of Dublin's DART service.

The upgrade is the largest investment in rail services in the Dublin area since the launch of the service 20 years ago, and will see peak capacity increasing by over one third.

Weekend DART services will resume on the southside at the weekend, while work on the northside will begin immediately.

Northside services will be disrupted at weekends for 10 months.
