Four French citizens who had been held without trial at the US detention centre in the Cuban enclave of Guantanamo Bay are now in the custody of the French authorities.
They arrived at an airbase in Normandy today after their release from Cuba earlier.
The detainees were captured in Afghanistan.
The French Foreign Ministry said negotiations were continuing with the US to secure the release of the remaining three French prisoners still being held at Guantanamo.
