The headless body of a decapitated Westerner has been found in northern Iraq.

Police said the body was found near the town of Baiji, 112 miles north of Baghdad, and taken to the city of Tikrit.

It is believed to be that of a second Bulgarian hostage, Ivailo Kepov.

Another headless body found in the same area earlier this month has since been identified as that of 30-year-old truck driver Georgi Lazov.

Concern for kidnap victims

Meanwhile, India has said it is doing all it can to win the release of three nationals kidnapped by militants in Iraq, and repeated that it would not send troops to the country.

Yesterday, an Iraqi group threatened in a videotape to kill six hostages from India, Kenya and Egypt if the Kuwaiti company they worked for did not pull out of Iraq.

They vowed to behead one hostage every three days, with a deadline starting yesterday evening.

Elsewhere in Iraq, US marines claim to have killed 25 guerrillas, wounded 17 and captured another 25 during several hours of fighting in the western city of Ramadi.

The Americans say 14 of their personnel were wounded.
