Decentralisation response disappointing

The Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Tom Parlon, has admitted that the response of staff in State agencies to decentralisation has been disappointing.

He insisted, however, that there were clear indications that many people in the Civil Service did want to avail of the opportunity to move under the decentralisation programme.

Mr Parlon was speaking at the Patrick MacGill summer school in Donegal after revelations at the weekend that no staff at all in certain State agencies wanted to move to locations outside Dublin.
