The Australian Prime Minister John Howard has said he does not regret joining the US-led invasion of Iraq, despite findings by a British inquiry that intelligence used to justify the war was ‘seriously flawed’.
Mr Howard said that the Butler Report cleared British officials of deliberately distorting information about possible weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Mr Howard said that, even though the intelligence was flawed, he would take the same decision again.
Edwards slams Bush response
The US Democratic Party's vice-presidential candidate Senator John Edwards has criticised US President George W Bush for his failure to take responsibility for flawed US intelligence on Iraq.
Senator Edwards, who was chosen as Senator John Kerry’s running mate, was speaking at a campaign rally in Iowa.
He contrasted Mr Bush's reaction to the Senate inquiry into US intelligence lapses with British Prime Minister Tony Blair's acceptance of yesterday's findings of the Butler report.
Senator Edwards also accused Mr Bush of showing a lack of leadership.
