Nelson Mandela has made an appeal at the international AIDS conference in Thailand for a greater effort to fight tuberculosis.
The former South African president said the battle would not be won unless the international community did more to stop TB, which affects many AIDS sufferers.
It was a rare appearance for Mr Mandela, who has announced his retirement from public life.
He will be 86 in a few days' time.
