The Fine Gael leader, Enda Kenny, has said his party must broaden and deepen its relationship with other parties in the Dáil to become a viable alternative to Fianna Fáil in Government.

Speaking on Radio One's This Week programme he said that some voters in the recent elections had voted Fine Gael solely because of anger with the Government, and what he called it's ‘arrogance’.

However, he added most could see in his party what he called ‘the beginnings’ of an alternative.
