Up to 2,300 ESB workers are set to go on strike from next Monday after the executive of the ESB Officers’ Association endorsed the action.
The ESBOA General Secretary Tony Dunne said the union hoped the attempt at mediation by ICTU General Secretary David Begg would succeed in resolving the dispute.
However, Mr Dunne said the union had a strike notice in effect and had to continue with its own plans.
